First Teams Announced for 2010 Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge
Annual Golf Tournament Offers $400,000 Scholarship Purse

ATLANTA (February 22, 2010) – Several of college football’s most notable head coaches will team up with former college and professional athletes and celebrities to represent their schools and compete for $400,000 in scholarship money at the 2010 Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge golf tournament.

Six teams are already confirmed for the 2010 field, with several more expected to join the battle for the $120,000 first-place scholarship prize awarded to the winners. Among those slated to appear are two-time defending champions Steve Spurrier and Sterling Sharpe, representing the University of South Carolina, and the team they defeated in a thrilling playoff to capture the 2009 championship, Virginia Tech’s Frank Beamer and Dell Curry.

Additional teams will be announced in the weeks preceding the tournament.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge is the nation’s premier head coach and celebrity golf gathering and takes place April 25-27 on the picturesque courses at Reynolds Plantation, located on Lake Oconee outside Atlanta. A significant contributor to the Chick-fil-A Bowl’s yearly charitable and scholarship donation efforts, the Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge features teams composed of a university head coach and a celebrity or former athlete from the same school competing in a scramble format against other university teams from around the country. In 2009, the tournament raised more than $500,000 in charitable contributions.
